Just for Students

From January to April, I am challenging my students to set practice goals for themselves.  It could be 15 minutes a day, 6 days a week; 30 minutes a day, 4 days a week; 20 minutes a day, 5 days a week.  The more often you practice, and the more time you spend practicing, the faster your piano playing will improve, and the faster you'll be able to move on to songs that are even more fun to play and sound great.  When we don't practice, we don't improve, and each song becomes difficult to play and practice time becomes a real chore.  We can't progress to new things at our lesson time because we're not ready to move on.  I'd like each student to consider how much time they spend practicing now, and increase that: add an extra day or two each week; add an extra 10-15 minutes to each practice session.  See how your playing improves if you stick to it, and how practice time actually becomes easier when we do it regularly.  For those who meet their goals by the end of April, you get a $5 treat from Dutch Bros!  So, ask your parents to help by setting a aside each day for you to practice, make sure you understand what your teacher expects out of your practice time, and get those fingers busy!
